A time and space system in which nine stars circulate a grid, shifting each year at the start of spring.

Numbers that move
Nine numbered stars circulate the nine palaces drawn from the Luoshu, 洛書, each with an element and a meaning. In common practice the 8 White and the 9 Purple are wealth stars, the 2 Black an illness star, and the 5 Yellow the most difficult, calmed with Metal. These are symbolic readings, not predictions.
The periods
Where we are now
Time runs in twenty-year periods, each governed by one star. Period 7 was 1984 to 2003, Period 8 was 2004 to 2023, and we are now in Period 9, 2024 to 2043, the Nine Purple Fire period, 九紫離火, of the south. The annual stars shift at the start of spring, 立春, near the fourth of February, so any yearly guidance is recomputed each year, never fixed.
