You drift through cold open water on wings, weightless and otherworldly, and few ever guess how far you have travelled to stay adrift.
Your birth-year element is revealed only when you enter a date. The element above is the animal's symbolic element.
Why this animal
The sea angel is a real marine creature, a tiny translucent sea slug that swims with a pair of wing-like parapodia beating in slow open water, drifting ethereally through cold seas with no shell and no anchor, its whole small body nearly clear. It is delicate, dreamlike, and free, moving by a soft constant flutter through vast open water. That is Pisces crossed with the Horse: a dreamy, feeling nature paired with a free-spirited, restless one that needs room to move. It drifts and beats its wings at once, ethereal and always in gentle motion. No other creature turns the need to dream and the need to keep moving into the same translucent, winged drift.
Two zodiacs, one animal
Pisces brings the Water and the swaying inner tide, the Neptune sensitivity that feels every current and dreams its way through the open sea rather than fighting it.
The Horse brings a free-spirited, energetic restlessness, a need for movement and open room that will not sit still. Where Pisces would drift and dream, the Horse keeps the wings beating, always moving even while it floats.
The crossing
Together they make a creature that dreams and drifts and keeps moving in the same breath, ethereal and unstill at once, weightless in open water while its wings never quite rest. You are gentle and restless together, otherworldly and always in soft motion. The quiet question underneath: if you keep beating your wings to stay adrift and dreaming, do you know how much motion it takes to look this weightless?
Nature
Your first instinct is to let the current carry you and beat your soft wings just enough to stay adrift and open, dreaming while moving, gentle while restless. You feel every current the way Pisces does and you need to keep moving the way the Horse does, so you have learned to do both at once, drifting and fluttering, which costs a constant soft effort no one sees. The pattern is that you look weightless and dreamlike while your wings beat steadily underneath just to stay open in the water. You are otherworldly and unanchored, and you sway through the vast cold without ever quite settling. Under pressure you drift further out and beat your wings faster at the same time, until the effort of staying adrift and gentle wears you thin.
Gifts
Protective instinct
You protect your dreaming, restless heart by staying weightless and adrift, beating your soft wings so you can keep feeling and moving without being pinned to any one place. You would rather flutter invisibly hard than choose between the dream and the motion.
Shadow
What trips it. A moment that asks you to admit how much soft effort your weightlessness actually costs, or to stop drifting and simply settle.
Your defense is the constant soft flutter, and you call it grace. You beat your wings invisibly to stay adrift and let no one see the effort, and you tell yourself weightlessness should look effortless. But the effort of staying open and dreaming in cold vast water while your restless nature keeps moving is wearing you thin, and you hide it because admitting it feels like admitting you might sink or be held. You solve restlessness by fluttering harder to look weightless. The sharp line: you are working your wings raw to stay adrift and calling it floating.
What it costs. You end up worn thin by a weightlessness you made look easy, dreamy and drifting and quietly exhausted, unable to say that staying adrift and gentle is costing you more than anyone can see.
Awakened form
The awakened Sea Angel keeps the dreamlike grace and the free drifting and stops hiding the effort. You still drift and still beat your soft wings, and now you let someone see the effort and share the current with you. You learn that admitting how hard you are working to stay adrift does not weigh you down, it lets someone move through the water alongside you. You are just as weightless and dreaming, and no longer fluttering yourself raw to look effortless.
On the new moon, near water, tell one person how much effort your weightless, drifting ease actually takes, out loud, without minimizing it.
The five gates
You are admired for your effortless, dreamlike drift and secretly worn thin by the soft effort it hides, and it has started to cost too much.
To have the effort seen, and to not move through the whole cold current alone.
This cycle, admit how hard staying adrift is to one person and let them share the current.
The invisible wing-beat that keeps you looking weightless while you strain. When you feel it, say the effort out loud.
The Seen Drifter, who keeps the dreamlike grace and lets the effort be shared. Near each new moon, name what weightlessness costs.
The Habitat
A Water nature moving softly and constantly through open space. [Traditional] Water is steadied by Earth and eased toward release by Fire; Horse Water swings between drift and restlessness. [Primal] For the Sea Angel, give one gentle grounding touch and one warm easing point in an open, flowing room, so you can stay adrift and dreaming without beating yourself thin against the current.
A calm, open space with one gentle grounding touch and plenty of room for soft movement, so you can drift and dream without straining to stay adrift.
Translucent glass-like surfaces, soft flowing fabrics that move with the air, and one warm easing point in an open, drifting room. A near-clear body beating a pair of soft wings, drifting weightless through open water while never quite coming to rest.
Let yourself drift and slow · Notice the soft effort of staying open and adrift · Feel how hard you have been working to look weightless · Name that effort out loud · Take three slow breaths with a longer exhale · Tell one person how much it costs · Let them move through the current with you

Keeper Stones
Stones are cultural and symbolic tools, not medical treatment. Some are unsafe in water or fade in sunlight; a few can be brittle around children or pets. Follow the care note for each. See the stones chosen for each animal, or read where they come from in the birthstone and moonstone traditions.
Moon rhythm
These phases are a practice you can keep. Charge what you carry with moonlight charging, and read the wider moon cycles behind them.
In relationship
You are the dreamlike friend who moves through people's lives with a gentle, weightless grace and makes the drifting look easy. Friends are drawn to your softness and rarely see the effort it takes. The growth is letting one friend see how hard you work to stay adrift, so they can move through the current with you instead of only admiring it.
In love you are gentle, dreamy, and free, drifting close with an ethereal grace your partner is drawn to. You can also hide the effort of staying weightless while your restless nature keeps moving, wearing yourself thin unseen. The work is to let your partner see the effort, so the two of you move through the water together rather than only they through your hidden work.
You are the family's gentle, dreaming drifter, the one who stays soft and free while quietly needing to keep moving. You bring an ethereal warmth the family cannot get elsewhere. You can also strain invisibly to look weightless, so admitting the cost lets the family share the current instead of leaving all of it to you.
At work you are the imaginative, free-moving one who needs open room and a gentle pace rather than a fixed post. You do your best with space to drift and freedom to shift. You wear yourself thin looking effortlessly weightless, so naming the real effort lets others move alongside you before it drains you.
Compatibility describes the pattern of a bond, not whether two people belong together.
Direction
North holds depth and rest; Northeast holds quiet beginnings; East is where you can say a feeling out loud when you are ready to be seen.
A direction is a reflective cue, not a rule. Adapt it when a room cannot follow it.
Nourishment
Your guiding flavor is salty and deep, leaning gently warming. This suits soups, sea vegetables, beans, and slow-cooked warmth. A gentle counterweight is too much cold or raw food when you are already pulling inward.
The shared bowl, eaten with someone else in the room. Strongest in winter.
This is symbolic and cultural, not nutrition or medical advice. No food heals or guarantees anything, and this is never a diet.
Moon for you
You are strongest in the dark of the new moon, where feeling is private and honest. The full moon can flood a water nature, so at the peak, protect your rest rather than perform.
Best days
In the Chinese tradition each day carries its own animal. Days ruled by the Horse's allies tend to favor connection and fresh starts; days ruled by its opposite ask for a little patience.

Common questions
The Sea Angel is the Primal Zodiac Animal of Pisces and the Year of the Horse. It is the single creature at the crossing of the Western Sun sign Pisces and the Chinese zodiac Year of the Horse, one of 144 combinations, and its reading is a lens for reflection rather than a forecast of events.
The Sea Angel is made by crossing two zodiacs: the Western Sun sign Pisces and the Chinese zodiac Year of the Horse. The month and day of a birthday set the Pisces half and the year, read against the lunar calendar, sets the Horse half.
Its natural allies are Leopard Seal, Ghost Pipefish, Beluga, the crossings its instincts trust on sight. Contrast with other crossings is not a warning but a mirror for self-knowledge.

Six threads hold your dreaminess, your restlessness, your protectiveness, your way of moving, your shadow, and your awakening. Each flutters invisibly to stay adrift.
