BaZi
In BaZi (八字, the Four Pillars), your day master is the element that stands for you. Earth is unusual: it is strong not in one season but at the seams of all four, and it holds the chart's four storehouses.
Earth is strong in late summer and in the four earth months 辰戌丑未 (chén xū chǒu wèi), the doyo at the turn of each season, and weaker in between. These four branches are also the storehouses 墓库 (mù kù): 辰 the vault of Water, 戌 the vault of Fire, 丑 the vault of Metal, and 未 the vault of Wood, where each element is gathered and stored.
Two phases move Earth by the generating cycle. Fire is the mother that warms and sources it, 火生土 (huǒ shēng tǔ), so a weak Earth is fed by Fire. Metal is the child it pours into, 土生金 (tǔ shēng jīn), which draws an overfull Earth down.
Two more phases meet Earth by the controlling cycle. Wood is the root that loosens and parts it, 木克土 (mù kè tǔ), checking a heavy Earth. Water is what Earth dams and holds, 土克水 (tǔ kè shuǐ), and in the wealth reading it is the wealth an Earth chart works.
Beyond strength, a chart is read for warmth and cold, 调候 (tiáo hòu). Cold or waterlogged Earth wants Fire to warm and dry it; hard, packed Earth wants Wood to open it. Climate can decide a chart more than raw balance does.
