A room of Wood · 木

feng shui
In feng shui, Wood belongs to the east and the 震 (zhèn) trigram, Thunder, and to the southeast and 巽 (xùn), Wind. It is carried by greens and blue-greens, by tall columnar shapes, by real plants, timber, cotton, and linen.
To strengthen Wood in a room, add its source, Water. To calm an excess of Wood, let it drain into Fire or prune it with Metal. Living plants, tall forms, and green tones are the usual carriers, placed to invite growth and fresh beginnings.
The east is popularly tied to health and family and the southeast to wealth, the latter mainly through the Western bagua map (Black Hat or BTB, a 1980s system, not classical China). Treat these as symbolic intention, not a mechanism. Guaranteed-outcome and money-plant 发财树 claims are modern commercial popularisation, not classical law. A plant is traditionally intended to invite vitality, and nothing more is promised.
