Rat and Pig
Two of the twelve zodiac animals carry Water as their fixed element: the Rat (子, zǐ) is yang water, and the Pig (亥, hài) is yin water. A birth year can also add a rotating Water on top.
The Rat sits at 子, the branch of deep midnight and the yang face of Water, quick, resourceful, and perceptive. The Pig sits at 亥, the yin face of Water, warm, generous, and steady. Their branches also name the winter water months and the late-night water hours.
Years such as the Water Rat and the Water Pig layer the rotating Water element over the animal's own, which tradition reads as intensifying the animal's water character. Enter a birth year on the element finder to see both at once.
